Kirtan
Join us every 2nd Saturday of the month for kirtan in Minneapolis. Sanskrit mantras are woven into melodies – the drone of the harmonium is combined with stirring vocals and the heart beat of the drum. Experience the energy and vibrations of communal singing, connecting to the Divine and each other in this meditative, peaceful, uplifting practice of Bhakti Yoga. No previous experience is required. Chant sheets will be available.
Upcoming gatherings: April 13 – 6pm | May 11 – 6pm | June 8 – 6pm
Location: Nokomis Yoga, 2722 E 50th St, Mpls 55417
Hanuman Chalisas
We meet every 3rd Saturday of the month at our home to chant the Hanuman Chalisa, a 40-verse prayer in praise of Hanuman. It invokes Hanuman as the very breath of Ram. Many believe that chanting this prayer gives us the strength to get through difficult times with compassion and grace.
Upcoming gatherings: March 16 – 10:30am | April 20 – 10:30am | No gathering in May | June 15 – 10:30am
Location: Kirtan Haus in Fridley, MN

What is Kirtan?
Kirtan is the sacred tradition of call-and-response chanting, brought to us from India. Kirtan is one of the principal activities of Bhakti Yoga (the path of devotion). The chants come from the Hindu tradition, but people of all faiths and cultural backgrounds participate in kirtan – it is in essence a meditation, repeating the names of God, turning inward towards ourselves. We experience the energy and vibrations of communal singing, connecting to the Divine and each other, opening our hearts and quieting our minds. Everyone participating contributes to the experience, emanating loving energy to the universe.
